Moulton play Heyford Athletic in the Final (KO 3:00) over at Wellingborough Town Ground

Moulton will be looking to retain the Les Underwood Junior Cup this Saturday when they travel over to Wellingborough Town’s ground at London Road to play Heyford Athletic in the Final (KO 3:00).

Heyford Athletic, from the Northants Combination Premier Division, finished their league campaign on Tuesday ending up 7th in the league. They played 30 league games ending up with 14 wins; 2 draws and 14 defeats. Tuesday’s match saw them go down 13-0 v Blisworth with the previous game a 5-0 defeat away at league champions, Corby Strip Mills. However, we should not look to deeply into these two results as Heyford made it quite clear in the media they would be putting out a reserve side for both games, saving players for the Junior Cup final. There other last 3 games saw a win away v Woodford United 3-0; draw at home to Finedon Volta (3-3) and another 5-1 defeat at home v Harpole. Back in March they were knocked out of the Premier Division Cup by Blisworth in the Semi-Final. Looking at the games played by both teams, Moulton have played a total of 50 games this season so far (38 league; 12 Cup), where Heyford have only played 39 games (30 league; 9 Cup).

Their Junior Cup progression has seen them dispose of 3 Spartan League sides (two of those being play-off sides, the other the bottom club)…..Burton Park Wanderers; Wellingborough Whitworth; Roade and Sileby Rangers 3-1 away in the Semi-Final.

Saturday’s referee is still to be announced.
