Congratulations to local lad John Austin (aged 63 & 1/2) our Player / Manager leading Moulton Masters Walking Football over 60s in their inaugural league winners triumph last Sunday at Wellingborough Redwells ground. Storming to the title by a lead of 11 points over nearest rivals Northampton Town, Brackley Town and hosts Redwell. All eyes are now on Sunday 26th Nov for the remaining league titles; 50s (where our main rivals are NTFC again, Rothwell Aztecs, Corby Town, Kettering and Wollaston Eagles) and the over 65s where we have two teams competing for the title with Corby Town, Crick Town and Brackley Town.
Huge thanks to the new NFA league committee under their chairman Pete Lennon (another Moulton Masters player). We look forward to the official presentation and AGM at Moulton FC clubhouse on Friday 1st December 2023 when Oundle Town and extra teams from existing members will be added to the Spring league commencing in February.
This is the 5th trophy John Austin of Pound Lane has lifted this past 12 months including the County Cup for the past two seasons. The NTFC Community Cup and the AFC Rushden & Diamonds invitation cup. Masters also hold the clean sweep of County Cups with the 50s and 65s.
We’re proud this week to be the first external guests invited to a Lincolnshire over 70s league round. Plenty of football for these 130 guys (aged 50-79) who thought their footballing days were over.
