Moulton U18 5–1 Daventry U18
Top-of-the-table Moulton produced a statement performance on Thursday night, sweeping aside second-placed Daventry with a dominant 5–1 victory.
The Magpies controlled the early stages and got their reward on 25 minutes. Captain Jamie Fuller opened the scoring after excellent build-up play from Adam Dicks, settling any early nerves in the top-of-the-table clash.
Moulton doubled their lead soon after when Sheku Kamora finished confidently, following strong work down the right flank from Hugo Neve, who caused problems for Daventry throughout the evening.
Hugo then turned scorer, slotting home Moulton’s third. A cleverly worked free kick from skipper Fuller found Neve unmarked in the box, and he made no mistake from close range.
The fourth arrived in spectacular fashion. Fuller, already pulling the strings in midfield, stepped up again this time unleashing a powerful strike from distance to claim his second of the match and put the game beyond Daventry.
The goal of the evening, however, belonged to Jamil Yusuf. After being picked out by an inch-perfect long pass from Hugo Neve, Yusuf showed real composure and flair as he nutmegged the onrushing keeper before running the ball in from the halfway line.
Daventry’s very unusual and unbalanced system only served to play into Moulton’s hands, and the Magpies made full use of the space and opportunities it provided.
This was a statement win for Moulton
Choosing a Man of the Match was straightforward this week. Despite fantastic performances from both Hugo Neve and Jamil Yusuf, the standout was captain Jamie Fuller (sponsored by Heatex), who was exceptional from the first whistle to the last
Daventry didn’t stop working all night and did score a consultation goal and threatened to get back into the game very briefly.
Well Done lads great win and a very professional performance…
