YOUNG MAGPIES STORM ON IN LEAGUE CUP

League Cup Quarter-Final Match Report

Moulton U18s booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals after an entertaining 8–3 victory over Corby Town U18s.

The opening 10 minutes were fiercely competitive, with both sides flying into tackles and battling hard for control.

Moulton gradually grew into the game and took the lead in style when Hugo Neve produced an unbelievable volley to make it 1–0.

That goal gave Moulton real momentum, and Jamil Yusuf struck twice in quick succession to put the home side 3–0 up and firmly in control.

Mo Kahn then added a fourth after some excellent work from Toby Sainsbury and Jamil Yusuf, before Jude Goodacre made it five with an outstanding free-kick routine.

Jamil then completed his second hat-trick in two weeks to put Moulton 6–0 ahead.

To their credit, Corby never gave up and pulled one back with a screamer, making it 6–1 at half-time.

The second half was always going to be a test of standards after such a dominant opening 45 minutes, and Moulton were guilty of taking their foot off the pedal at times.

Two sloppy mistakes from corners allowed Corby back into the game, and after a slightly erratic 10-minute spell, Moulton had to regroup.

Once they settled down, Moulton began to take control again and finished the game strongly.

Louie Kelly added the seventh with a great finish, before Toby Sainsbury rounded things off by latching onto a Sheku Kamora through ball and finishing well to cap off a good night’s work.
