Much changed line up this week with some players returning and others unavailable or injured. However with a big squad of good players we were ready for a tough game against Earls Barton Ladies.
We started brightly for a change with Emily intent on improving her first touch after wind ups from the Assistant! After 8 minutes Reedy took a good throw and the ball found its way to Chelsea who played a delightful through ball to Emily who took the ball in her stride before sliding a controlled finish past the keeper for 1-0.
With their tails up Moulton continued to press and after 12 minutes Amy V played over a great ball and Emily caught it on the volley and placed it in the top corner. (don't let the truth get in the way of a good story).
We then saw a period of stalemate where EB played themselves back in the game. On 33 minutes the forward made a clever turn in the area and Wilma caught her for a penalty which no 14 smashed in for 2-1. With the slope and wind against us in the second half a 1 goal lead seemed precarious. However with half time fast approaching, an Amy V corner found the back of Molly's head and was heading goalwards before a defender helped the ball in to the net. 3-1 and a more comfortable lead going in to half time.
Again we started the second half brightly with Sally and Emma looking lively up top. Reedy was having her best game and Lauren continues to develop her game by moving forward whenever possible to link with the midfield. Beth and Wilma were solid at the back.
On 57 minutes we scored a superb team goal. Link up play from Sally to Amy V and a great cross out of the keeper's reach, saw Emma in the right place for a tap in for our fourth goal at the far post and a nice 3 goal cushion.
Earls Barton now decided to push forward and looked dangerous on a few occasions, notably when no 10 broke clear and smashed a shot towards the top corner only for Meg to acrobatically tip the ball on to the cross bar and away.
Well played Earls Barton for continuing to the end in what was an enjoyable encounter well refereed by Lauren Impey.
