Corby attacked from the off and a decent cross was well caught by Reedy in Moulton's goal, and cleared. 10 minutes of even midfield action with Corby just having the edge with Jess trying to get a foothold in the game for Moulton. 25 minutes gone and little goalmouth action at either end.
On 30 minutes Tilly was playing well and a through ball saw Molly, on as a sub, charge through the middle only to shoot too early straight into the Corby keeper's hands. After 30 minutes Daisy was playing well at left defence with firm tackles and decent distribution. Molly was again put through the middle with just the keeper to beat. only to just beat the far post with her early shot. 2 mintes before half time, the ball broke in midfield and two Corby players were in space with a bouncing ball. Number 24 decided to shoot and hit a really firm shot from over 25 yards out that flew past the Moulton keeper for 1-0 Corby. Half Time 1-0 Corby.
2nd half kicked off and little goalmouth action in the first 10 minutes. On the hour Moulton gave away a freekick some 25 yards out on the right hand side and up stepped number 24 to score direct into the top corner, 2-0 Corby. Another period of pressure from Corby saw a firm shot just clear the crossbar. On 65 minutes number 32 of Corby ran through one on one with the Moulton keeper advancing quickly and just getting in the block to clear the danger. Then Moulton had a period of pressure with Princess and Tilly linking well. Tilly took on 2 players and beat them and drove across the front of Corby's goal and hit a left foot shot that the keeper saved comfortably.
83 minutes Corby attacked again and Reedy pulled off a decent save. Immediately after, 32 hit a decent shot that was heading for the corner of Moulton's net before Reedy dived full length to push the ball round the post for a corner. From the corner, Reedy saved with her feet for another corner.
Moulton then had a good period of pressure with most players pushing forward, in fact they were unfortunate not to score but a lesson that shots must be taken when there are chances. Corby then counterattacked and 32 was away and outpaced the sole Moulton defender and calmly slotted home for 3-0 Corby with the final whistle going almost immediately after the goal.
Final result 3-0 and a good lesson that if you dont take your chances you will pay for it, and Moulton did.
Cat and Jade were sound in defence and Daisy also had an impressive game, looking strong and attempting to link with midfield.
Antonella was impressive in midfield and Jess, Georgie and Millie worked hard. Up top Milly looks a handful and dribbled well in tight situations and was unlucky not to have scored. Princess showed some amazing turns but she just needs to slow down to only 100 mph.
Beth and Emmi both looked a bit short of match fitness but worked hard. Molly came off with a quad problem and was unfortunate not to have scored a couple of goals. Big lesson when running through on goal, dont panic and shoot too early, a lesson to be learned at training.
All in all a decent workout and Corby will be confident as they are our forst league opponents at Corby on 14th September.
Finally, from all the team, we hope Jade's wedding goes well this coming Tuesday 2nd September over in Hethersett, nr Wymondham and Norwich.
