We arrived at Higham's ground to find that the sheep had not been employed to cut the grass making on the floor passing a lottery. Moulton kicked off with a slight slope in their favour but against a strong wind again.
Moulton attacked from the kick off and a ball over the top found Millie who shot early but past the far post. After 5 minutes Higham attacked after Kitty had unfortunately stood on the ball. A shot came in and a good save by Harriet pushed the ball round the post. Higham players began to find their feet and exert pressure on Moulton's midfield and defense. After 10 minutes Higham won a freekick on Moulton's right. The kick was taken and not cleared well by Moulton's defence and the ball went to Higham's 16 who smacked the ball straight back into the net for 1-0 Higham. After 15 minutes an attack from Higham broke down and Kitty made a run down the left winning a corner. Back came Higham and after 21 minutes their 17 got a shot in and Harriet made a good save in Moulton's goal conceding a corner. Following this Higham scored their second.
Then after 27 minutes Harriet madea sprawling save and in doing so she injured her calf muscle and had to be helped off with Reedy taking over between the sticks. It has been really useful having 2 keepers this season. After 39 minutes a Moulton break saw Sophie try her luck but the ball curled away on the wind. Three minutes later Higham had a couple of corners in quick succession well defended by Moulton's defence.Half Time saw it 2 -0 to Higham. Moulton had resorted to booting the ball forward rather than trying a passing game and the team talk at the interval will be interesting.
The first 20 minutes of the second half saw Moulton playing some better football and making a few chances and a recovery looked possible. However after 67 the ball was wide on the right and Higham's 17 took a touch and hammered a cross cum shot high and hard into the goal for 3-0 Higham. Moulton continued to look the better side in the 2nd half but couldn't find a breakthrough. A late run from Sophie T saw the ball bounce up and hit her arm as she ran through. She continued her run and beat the keeper but the referee then called play back for the handball. Higham continued wasting as much time as possible and the keeper's antics were pathetic for a team winning 3-0. Match ended 3-0 to Higham. Moulton's 2nd half display was good but they were made to pay for a poor 1st half display. Player of the Match went to Chelsee, playing her final match and we all wish her well. Next up for Moulton is the final game of the season against Crick in the Plate Cup Final. Good luck Ladies let's finish the season on a high.
