Moulton made their first ever foray into the FA Vase with a trip to face Crawley Green FC from the Division above and were first to threaten with 11 mins on the clock. Cole Mason crossed from the right and Josh Adams headed back across goal but the ball struck the crossbar and from the rebound Dan Camacho saw his header this time bobble on top of the bar and out for a goal kick, however 3 minutes later the Magpies deservedly took the lead. Andy Hall popped up on the left and his cross was glanced in to the bottom corner by CAMACHO from 10 yards out. The visitors were well worth the lead but a catalogue of defensive errors within the space of 8 minutes saw them go from 1-0 up to 4-1 down something that was a very hard watch for the loyal band of 20 or so visiting supporters. Camacho did have a chance right on the break when he fired over but Moulton went into the break absolutely shell shocked HALF TIME CRAWLEY GREEN 4 MOULTON 1
Luca Iaciofano replaced Alex Vaughn for the second half and within 8 minutes the visitors were handed a lifeline when Crawley had a man sent off for kicking out at Albert Mensah, unfortunately parity was restored 10 minutes later when Josh Melling was sin binned for dissent. Derek Okoye and Hughie Johns replaced Josh Clipston and Manny Asante as Moulton started to pin back the home side and Adams was unlucky again this time hitting the post with Hall blazing over the rebound. With 16 minutes left the Magpies did reduce the arrears Hall played a short corner to Johns and his cross hit the post but OKOYE gobbled up the rebound. Moulton continued to press and from a Hall free kick Nat Ansu saw what looked like a goal bound effort hit Camacho and dribble wide. With Moulton committing men forward the inevitable happened when Crawley put the game to bed with a 5th goal, and with a minute left on the clock another defensive howler left keeper Cameron Duff exposed and he saw red for bringing down the home attacker as he bore down on goal. Once again Moulton can look back at this game and know they had enough to win comfortably, but again poor defending cost them again dear.
