Moulton v Wollaston Victoria (Junior Cup) - 13 Jan 24

Jnr Cup (H)
Won 4-1
(H/T 2-0)
Moulton travelled to Wollaston in the NFA Junior Cup quarter final on the back of an 11 game winning run and in the first 15 minutes both sides struggled to get a grip in the testing underfoot conditions. The Visitors created the first clear cut chance after 17 minutes when Dan White and Josh Adams created for top scorer NAT ANSU who gobbled it up from 10 yards out. Wollaston replied immediately and had the ball in the net a minute later but a linesman’s flag ruled it out for offside, and within 5 minutes it was 2-0. Ansu and Luca Iaciofano worked an opening for White on the right hand side of the box and when the keeper parried his shot straight into the path of ANSU who finished clinically. The Magpies were on top now and a driving run from his own half by Cole Mason ended up finding Adams in the box but he miscued his shot well wide. With half time approaching the Wollaston had 2 half chances but Josh Durrant in the Moulton goal was equal to both.
HALF TIME WOLLASTON 0 MOULTON 2
The home side came out all guns blazing straight from the re start and pulled a goal back immediately with a back post header which Durrant just failed to keep out, and they had a good 10 minute spell where they pushed Moulton back however they failed to capitalise and with 57 minutes on the clock the visitors restored their 2 goal lead. Mason with another run down the right saw his cross handled in the box with skipper FRANCIS BOATENG converting from the spot, and to compound the home side’s woes they had a player sin binned for 10 minutes for dissent. With the extra man Moulton went for the kill and after 65 minutes made the game safe, after being found in the inside left channel by Adams, ANSU rolled 1 defender before holding off another and firing past the advancing keeper from just inside the box to complete his hat trick. Four minutes later it should have been 5-1, the move of the match involving 5 or 6 players ended up at the feet of Iaciofano but he shot narrowly over from 15 yards. The home side’s discipline which was poor for most of the game boiled over 11 minutes before the end when they had a player dismissed and for the last few minutes Moulton played keep ball and saw the game out.
