Match Report v Desborough Town (Hillier Cup)

Hillier Cup (H)
Moulton FC locked horns with Desborough Town for the second time in 4 days at Brunting Rd, this time in the Northants FA Senior cup with both sides making changes from Saturdays league game which the visitors won 1-0. The Magpies looked in great form early on and Adam Honour in the Desborough Goal was being bombarded with efforts from all angles, Nat Ansu 3 times and Connor Bailey twice brought saves from the stopper, with Renato Prifti and Lewis Fisher also having decent chances all within the first 20 minutes. The visitors rode the storm and Adam North in the home goal was forced to tip over an effort a couple of minutes later, but with 23 minutes on the clock Moulton took a deserved lead. Prifti deftly flicked on a pass from Damian Osoimoejiokhian into the path of Lewis Isom and his first time cross was converted by FISHER high into the net. A piece of lax play at the back a minute later was nearly costly and North was forced to make a double save to keep his side in front, but this was to no avail as 3 minutes later the scores were level, Lamin Jammeh was allowed to cut in from the left and his curling shot from 18 yards found the corner of North’s net. The game became a little more even after this with both sides having chances, firstly North saved again sharply after a quick Desborough break and at the other end following a long clearance by the keeper, Bailey crossed to Isom, but his shot was straight at Honour. The visitors took a somewhat un-deserved lead 7 minutes before the break when a cross from the left was converted by Harrison Parker.
HALF TIME MOULTON 1 DESBOROUGH TOWN 2
Both Luke Stevens and Ansu had decent 1 on 1 chances early on in the second half but again Honour came out the better on both occasions, and with 10 minutes of the half gone the Magpies made changes, Dante Grey replaced Joel Machakaire and Ansu was replaced by 16-year-old Jaxon Bedford making his first senior appearance. North was called into action again soon after saving down by a post but within a minute the home side were level, Stevens found Osoimoejiokhian and he advanced down the left before crossing to the far post where it was met with a firm header by ELLIS ANDREWS netting his first goal for the club. Another product of the successful under 18s from last season Munir Amour also making his senior bow replaced Fisher after 69 minutes and soon after Moulton got what was the winner, STEVENS played a short free kick to Tyson Aluko and took the return pass and with the Desborough defence retreating the big defender played a 1-2 with Prifti before striding into the penalty area and beating Honour with a left foot shot into the bottom corner. Osoimoejiokhian then somehow managed to miss a gilt-edged chance at the back post following a Bailey corner and right at the death Prifti was played in by Bailey again but Honour not for the first time in the evening beat away the effort.
