The game that had pretty much everything. Even start with both teams passing the ball well. After 7mins Derrick put clean through on goal shot low to the keepers right, a good save, however the ball fell to Joey for a simple tap in 1-0. Rugby reacted well and started to get on top, a direct free kick after 22 mins stung the hands of Filipe who managed to keep it out. A mistake from their keeper who failed to notice Joey behind when playing the ball out from the back, Joey nipped in and fired in a sweet left foot strike from 25 yds for a 2-0 lead after 36mins. Undeterred Rugby came back and scored after 40mins, offside? A lot of people thought so.

Straight after the re-start a lapse in concentration from a Rugby free kick saw them draw level with a well struck shot into the corner of our net 2-2. Then the best goal of the game, a lightening break involving Derrick, CJ and Andy with Shad finishing for a 3-2 lead after 57mins. Back came Rugby scoring direct from a free kick 3-3 after 62mins. A point blank save from Filipe 3 mins later kept the score at 3-3. 68mins Derrick clean through on an open goal brought down as about to score, red card and Joey despatching the resulting penalty to complete his hat trick, 4-3. From then on good passing kept Rugby at bay with us adding a 5th for Cole after a a long passage of keeping the ball. 5-3 a great game to watch played by 2 good teams, (PS forgot to mention a Joey’s Red card for 2 bookable offence after 89mins).
