Match Report v Sileby Rangers

Lge (Away)
Lost 2-6
(H/T 1-3)
Moulton visited local rivals Sileby Rangers in a Spartan South Midlands Division 1 match with a virtually full squad available, only Albert Mensah was missing, who is still struggling with an injury picked up some weeks ago. Moulton were first to show when Luca Iaciofano crossed and Tom O’Neill saw his shot saved by the keepers legs, parity was however short lived and the home side took the lead after 3 minutes, when a long range shot hit a post and the rebound was finished by an alert Sileby striker. The Magpies responded and a good 4 man move involving Iaciofano, Joey Evans and Derek Okoye saw Cole Mason robbed just as he was about to shoot. The home side looked the more likely to score and increased their lead after 32 minutes when a cross from the right went unchallenged and the striker headed in to make it 2-0. The visitors struck back immediately when a corner from Iaciofano reached JACK MULLALLY at the back post and he finished clinically. Sadly 3 minutes later Moulton pressed the self- destruct button when not for the first time in the game we gave the ball away cheaply and it resulted with a home striker being brought down in the area, and the penalty converted. Just before the break the Magpies had a half chance but Evans fired over after Mason had crossed.

HALF TIME SILEBY RANGERS 3 MOULTON 1

Within 2 minutes of the restart Moulton conceded again when another poor pass went astray and the home side finished clinically , just after the home side were reduced to 10 men for a sin bin offence, and Iaciofano had a half chance after a long ball from Josh Melling. With Sileby back to 11 men they increased the lead after 66 minutes when once again a loose pass in and around the Moulton box was punished. The Magpies were struggling to make any impact going forward and a high press game by the hosts paid dividends again with 18 minutes left, when Moulton gave away a needless free kick just outside the box. Filipe Mederios made a great save from the kick but the defence was slow to react and the loose ball was converted. DEREK OKOYE gained a late consolation goal intercepting a poor back pass and flicking it past the keeper, but The Magpies were well beaten on the night.
