Moulton welcomed struggling Burton Park Wanderers to Brunting Rd and included new signings Archie Elmore, Harry Chipchase and Josh Durrant in the starting line-up. The home side forced a corner in the first minute but it came to nothing, and not long after the visitors broke but Durrant saved the resulting effort. With 12 minutes on the clock Burton took a shock lead against the run of play when Harvey Mutton flicked in a near post header following a corner. For the rest of the half Moulton pressed, Chipchase was just wide after good work from Francis Boetang and Elmore teed up Justin Mensah but his shot was blocked. Aaron Dickins and Josh Adams were combining well down the left and they assisted Chipchase but this time his shot flew over, and not long after they combined again and Adams saw his shot beat the keeper but a defender cleared off the line. The Magpies were not be denied however and grabbed a deserved equaliser when Dickins went over an outstretched leg and BOETANG converted from the spot with 2 minutes of the half left.
HALF TIME; MOULTON 1 BURTON PARK WANDERERS 1
The home side started the second half on top and early on Elmore twisted and turned and crossed to Nat Ansu but he couldn’t get over the header and the ball drifted over the bar. Captain Boetang struggling with a groin injury was replaced by Albert Mensah and minutes later Dan White put Ansu in but he couldn’t convert. The visitors in a rare foray into the Moulton half did hit the post but it was about the only time they threatened in the half and soon after Cole Mason had a shot saved after good work by Elmore and White down the right. Tom Oneill and Luca Iaciofano replaced Adams and Ansu as the Magpies went in search of a deserved winner and it came with 9 minutes left, when Justin Mensah slid in WHITE on the right hand side of the box and his fierce shot flew into the roof of the net past the helpless keeper. Hughie Johns replaced a limping Mason with 3 minutes left and right at the death Iaciofano just failed to reach a cross from Dickins.
