The Magpies were back at Billing Rd only 4 days after knocking the hosts ON Chenecks out of the League cup, this time in a Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 clash which saw top against second.

Moulton were forced to make 3 changes from Tuesday night and on a blustery afternoon and on a bobbly pitch both sides struggled early on, however the home side were first to strike when a cross from the right was excellently converted in to the roof of the net by Edward Uka with 12 minutes gone. Moulton were matching the league leaders in all departments and deservedly equalised after 26 mins. Andy Hall floated a free kick into the box which was partially cleared to DAN WHITE who didn’t connect correctly but the ball bobbled through a host of players before nestling in the bottom corner, initially a linesman gave offside but after being consulted by the referee a goal was awarded. Moulton were fortunate soon after when skipper Francis Boateng sold Filipe Mederios short with a back pass but the keeper saved at the feet of the home forward, and at the other end twice 17 year old Joel Machakaire put Nat Ansu clear the first effort went over and the second was pushed away by the Chens stopper.

The hosts had the first chance of the second half when Mederios was forced to save at the back post following a free kick but with 62 mins on the clock the Magpies took the lead. Archie Elmore got away on the right and from his cross a home defender deflected the ball into his own net with Ansu lurking for a tap in, and Ansu had a good chance himself soon after when Machakaire and Hall combined down the left but he lobbed over. The home side were huffing and puffing but not really creating anything and Moulton looked more likely to score and Elmore had a good chance in injury time to seal victory but the Chens keeper saved. An excellent all round display particularly defensively saw Moulton cement 2nd place in the league and inflict a first league defeat on Chenecks.
