Moulton made the longest away trip of the season to play Royston U23 and included Lewis Isom who had returned to the club from Irchester Utd. Moulton started the brighter and Nat Ansu escaped his marker but shot over the bar and Isom also had a chance but shot wide after being put in by Steff Koffi. Chances continued to be created and Albert Mensah, Dan White and Josh Melling all missed the target when in decent positions. The Magpies did finally break the deadlock on 33 minutes, when they broke quickly following a Royston corner,Ansu held the ball up before laying it square to ISOM who cut in from the right and slotted the ball past the keeper from 15 yards. The hosts should have equalised 4 minutes later with a free header at back post but it went over however they did draw level somewhat luckily with 40 mins on the clock, a shot from the right was going well wide until it took a large deflection off Ben Jackson and looped up over Filipe Mederios and into the net
HALF TIME ROYSTON U23 1 MOULTON 1
Royston came out with purpose in the second half kicking downhill and had the first chance but it didn’t trouble Mederios, however they did take the lead after 58 minutes, when some decent football down the left ended up with a square ball into the box that was finished easily. The hosts were now on top and Mederios was called into action twice in quick succession to keep them out as Moulron struggled to create anything of note. That did change though with 7 minutes left, Brodie Alibone on for Koffi combined with Isom on the right and from the cross AARON DICKINS arrived at the back post to crash in the equaliser. The Magpies were now in the ascendancy and had a glorious chance to go in front 3 minutes later when Josh Adams crossed from the left White had a free header at the back post but it sailed over the bar. With the game moving into injury time Moulton were pressing for the winner but were caught with a sucker punch, when they lost the ball high up the pitch Royston broke down the left again and bagged the points with an angled shot from 20 yards
