Moulton FC were on the road again on Tuesday 13th August for the second time in 4 days when they visited Rushden and Higham at Hayden Rd and could have taken the lead in the first minute. Francis Boateng found Jack Barnett with a raking pass inside the full back and his cut back was cleared but only to Lewis Isom who squared it back to Nat Ansu but his shot was saved by the home keeper. Boateng was involved again soon after when he set up Harry Darnell but he shot over from 10 yards. The Magpies were well on top for the first 20 mins but should have fallen behind soon after when Rushden attacked down the right, a cross came in but Alfie Bowdler missed the ball completely with the goal at his mercy, probably the bobbly goalmouth did for him. Moulton’s dominance did pay eventually after 34 minutes ANSU robbed a home defender just outside the box and rolled the ball inside the far post to put the visitors in front.
HALF TIME RUSHDEN AND HIGHAM 0 MOULTON 1
The start of the second half was a tepid affair with neither side threatening , Archie Elmore replaced Luca Iaciofano on 58 mins and could have increased the Magpies lead soon after but completely missed his kick after Darnell had a shot blocked following a Barnett corner. Ivandro Montiero and Dylan Kelly replaced Andy Hall and Isom in an attempt to grab a second goal but it was the home side who had the best 2 chances in the latter part of the game, firstly a driven free kick was met at the far post but the header went wide and then Moulton keeper Jonny Vallance made a point blank save to keep his goal intact and seal the 3 points in what was a difficult watch on a very poor surface.
