Drew 1-1
(H/T 1-1)
Moulton were on their travels again visiting Leighton Town Reserves and got off to a dream start when from a Ben Jackson throw Josh Durrant headed on and NAT ANSU applied the finishing touch after only 4 minutes. The visitors continued to apply early pressure and Ansu and Pierre N’Golo set up Luca Iaciofano but he shot wide and then Andy Hall found Iaciofano with a raking ball but his cross eluded a number of players in the box. Leighton started to get a hold in the game and equalised after 23 mins when Finlay Jaggard got away down the middle, Jonny Vallance saved his initial shot but the forward followed up to net the loose ball. Despite being pegged back the Magpies looked the more likely to score and twice Ivandro Montiero was denied by home keeper Harvey Heeps.
HALF TIME LEIGHTON TOWN RES 1 MOULTON 1
Keiran Ashman replaced the struggling Montiero at half time and the half started with neither side threatening although Ansu did have a half chance after being set up by Hall but his shot was blocked with Iaciofano seemingly in a better position. As the half wore on Moulton started to press and when Hall crossed from the right Lewis Isom badly miscued his shot when in a decent position. With 71 mins on the clock the visitors should have gone back in front, Ansu wriggled free and bore down on the home goal rounding the keeper but his shot was blocked by a covering defender and the ball went out for a corner. With 10 minutes left Derek Okoye replaced the excellent teenage debutant Jude Goodacre in an attempt to force a winner, and immediately caused confusion in the home defence by putting Ansu in, his shot was blocked and and the ball ran loose to Iaciofano inside the six yard box but he couldn’t get a telling touch and the ball went wide. As the game entered its final stages the home goal was under siege and in one short spell a number of good chances went begging, shots blocked, keeper saved, post hit, you name it, then it happened, everything but a goal, and the game ended frustratingly as a draw.
