Moulton FC were on their travels again this time to the north of the county to take on unbeaten Desborough Town but with 8 squad players missing due to injury and un-availability and gave 16 year old Dan Anghel his first start alongside 17 year old Adam Dicks in midfield. The Magpies had the better of the early exchanges and had 2 free kicks in Desborough’s half and a corner but they came to nothing but after 14 minutes could have gone ahead, Nat Ansu worked an opening for Lewis Isom but the home keeper saved at his feet. Desborough who have scored freely all season were struggling to create any worthwhile chances and Moulton had another half chance with 23 minutes gone when Dicks, Anghel, and Ben Jackson combined with Dicks winning a corner. From the resultant kick the ball was cleared out to Jackson and his cross saw Ansu inches wide of the target.

The home side came out in a more positive mood in the second half and for the first time in the match Moulton were under a bit of pressure however with 6 minutes of the half gone the Magpies went in front when from a Desborough corner the ball was played up to Ansu on the half way line and he slipped a pin point pass inside to ISOM who beat the onrushing keeper to the ball and rolled it in to the empty net. 4 minutes later it could have been 2 when Dicks won the ball well inside the home half, Isom headed on to Ansu but as the ball dropped over his shoulder he couldn’t get any purchase on the shot and the keeper saved easily. After 58 mins the home side were handed a lifeline when Dan Mortimer was adjudged to have fouled a Desborough player in the box, Isom was sin-binned for protesting but Vallance dived to his left to save the spot kick. Moulton defended valiantly with 10 men but were eventually outdone when a ball to the back stick was headed back across goal for a simple tap in to level the scores. Moulton had one more chance when Mortimer played a free kick to Isom and his quick turn and cross was right on the money but no one could get a telling touch on it and it was cleared for a corner. The referee who had been the centre of attention all game with a flurry of yellow cards for players, coaches et all had one more telling part to play when with 3 minutes left and after a coming together between Josh Melling and a home forward he awarded another penalty but one again Vallance came to his sides rescue with another fine save this time to his right to earn his side a deserved point.
