Moulton FC hoped to build on last week’s excellent 1-1 draw away at unbeaten Desborough Town by welcoming Raunds Town to Brunting Rd. Manager Gary Petts changed the shape of the team slightly and it paid dividends as early as the 6th minute when Pierre N’Golo won a throw in high up the pitch and from Francis Boateng’s restart Derek Okoye challenged for the ball and it dropped invitingly for top scorer NAT ANSU and he slid it past the flat footed keeper. Not long after it could have been two, N’Golo put in a great ball from the left and Ansu tried to steer it home with his foot when a header might have paid better dividends and minutes later N’Golo turned the full back inside out but saw his shot cannon back off the post. Moulton continued to press and N’Golo was proving a real hand full and he and Okoye combined to set up Adam Dicks but the cross just eluded the young full back as he strode into the box. It was all one way traffic and first Andy Hall saw a shot saved after a 1-2 with Ansu, Ivandro Montiero shot over from distance, Okoye was just wide and then saw a shot deflected for a corner as the half went into injury time. The resultant corner was partially cleared by the visitors defence but only to Ben Jackson and when he returned it to the far post Josh Melling headed down and OKOYE slotted in from close range.

Moulton continued to dominate and ANSU grabbed his second of the game after being set up by Okoye with 53 minutes on the clock but the Magpies were dealt a blow 5 minutes later when Boateng had to leave the field and he was replaced by Ben Fulthorpe. Raunds who had barely threatened grabbed a goal out of the blue after 62 minutes but the home side continued to create chances first Montiero shot wide after being set up by N’Golo and Dicks, and then N’Golo crossed for substitute Luca Iaciofano but he headed over. With 15 minutes left on the clock Moulton sealed the points, Dan White retrieved a corner and when his shot was spilled by the visitor’s keeper OKOYE was on the spot to make it 4-1. Moulton kept the foot on the pedal and after some great football on the right involving Jackson and Hall, Iaciofano saw his shot beaten away by the keeper, however a fifth goal was not long coming and it was ANSU again finding the net from an acute angle for yet another “Nat-Trick” his 3rd in 5 games. Much to the home sides annoyance Raunds grabbed another goal after Moulton lost the ball in midfield but there was still some icing on the cake right on full time when Asnu wriggled clear and rounded the visitors goal keeper but with the open goal at his mercy he delayed until KEIRAN ASHMAN arrived in the box and squared it to the youngster to net his first senior goal for the club.
