Drew 1-1
(H/T 1-1)
Moulton FC were on the road again with a visit to Ampthill Town with 6 players either Injured, suspended or un-available and included two 17 year olds Evan Dye and Hugo Neve both making their first senior starts for the club and also two more in Harry Cowley and Dan Anghel on the bench. The Magpies had the first chance when Derek Okoye forced a corner and from Lewis Isom’s kick Nathan Burrows headed over the bar, however after only 8 minutes the home side took the lead, when a speculative shot from 30 yards by Jack Kent flew past Jonny Vallance who got a hand to it but couldn’t keep it out. Moulton responded and Isom was just over the bar with a free kick from 20 yards but Ampthill dominated the first 20 minutes and only a double save by Vallance from Sam Holmes kept the score at 1-0, however after 26 minutes the Magpies drew level when OKOYE turned sharply 15 yards out and found the net with his 50th goal for the club. The equaliser seemed to change the game and when Damian Osiomoejiokhian crossed into the box Dan Camacho was just too high with his effort, and not long after a joint effort by Burrows and Okoye won the ball in midfield and sent Adam Dicks away on the right and his cross was brilliantly blocked by a home defender with Camacho ready to pounce. Right on half time the Magpies had another half chance when the home keeper dropped an Andy Hall free-kick but Dan White saw his effort clear the crossbar.
HALF TIME AMPTHILL TOWN 1 MOULTON 1
The visitors started the second half on the front foot and had two decent chances firstly after breaking from an Ampthill corner Isom found Burrows with a cross field pass but the striker shot over and then Hall found the big striker at the far post but falling backwards he couldn’t get any purchase in the header and the Amps keeper saved comfortably. Hall was starting to pull the strings in mid-field and found Camacho out on the left and he outpaced a defender before pulling the ball back in the direction of Okoye only for another last ditch interception to deny an effort on goal. Moulton continued to dominate and two in-swinging corners by Isom caused some real problems for the Amps defence the second just clearing the crossbar with the keeper beaten. With 72 minutes gone Camacho was replaced by Justin Mensah and a couple of minutes later the home side won a corner and Vallance saved an initial effort and then a goal line clearance by Neve kept the score at 1-1 and just before the end Vallance went full length to push a long rang effort around the post. A game Moulton would say they dominated for the large part but quality in the final third probably stopped them getting all 3 points but on the plus side both young debutants had excellent games and looked right at home which is good news for the future.
