Match report v Cranfield

Lge (A)
Won 1-0
H/T 0-0)
Moulton FC were on the road again following Tuesdays 0-0 draw against Desborough with Cranfield the destination. The Magpies showed 3 changes from that line-up with the now departed Francis Boateng, injured Nat Ansu and Justin Mensah being replaced by Keiran Ashman, Derek Okoye and Matty Long. The “Cranfield Breeze” was in evidence again and both teams struggled to cope with the conditions and very little happened in the first 15 minutes. The first real action of note saw the visitors have a good shout for a penalty when Ashman fed Lewis Isom out on the left and he crossed low into the box and with the keeper beaten Okoye appeared to be impeded with the goal at his mercy, sadly the referee thought otherwise. With 23 minutes gone there was another shout for a penalty when an Isom corner was clearly handled in the home penalty area but again appeals fell on deaf ears. Both teams struggled to gain any advantage and the game became more and more disjointed as the half wore on but 5 minutes before the break the Magpies had the best chance of either team so far. Long sent over a corner from the left and his kick to the far post was headed just over by Damian Osoimoejiokhian.
HALF TIME CRANFIELD 0 MOULTON 0
The home side created the first chance of the second half but a weak shot was well handled by Jonny Vallance. Moulton replied and following a drop ball half way inside the Cranfield half Andy Hall’s cross into the box was headed goal-wards by Long but the home keeper saved above his head The Magpies were beginning to exert a little bit more pressure and following a long throw by Osiomoejiokhian, Ashman challenged and as the ball dropped Isom saw his shot fly over from 12 yards. Ashman picked up a knock soon after and was replaced by Pierre N’Golo and half chances were still being created, firstly Okoye shot over following a Hall free kick and then Dante Grey also cleared the crossbar from close range following a Isom corner, but just like Tuesday evening last the drama was saved for the dying seconds. With the game 2 minutes into time added on a number of players were crammed into the Cranfield box and a couple of Moulton players seemed to be impeded and the referee eventually pointed to the penalty spot. After a delay of a minute or two HALL stepped up and despatched the ball high into the net to secure the points for his team.
