Fresh from Tuesday’s victory over Daventry the Magpies were back at Brunting Rd with Godmanchester the visitors.

Manager Gary Petts included new signing Brett Solkhon in the starting line-up with fellow new boy Michael Cirelli on the bench.Derek Okoye deputising for the missing Nat Ansu had the first chance for Moulton winning a battle for the ball but lifting his shot well over the bar but the home side did take the lead on 15 minutes. Andy Hall swung over a free kick from out on the left and DAN WHITE rose above everyone to find the net despite a valiant attempt by a Goddy defender to keep it out, and in the next minute it should have been 2-0. Ed Odley crossed and Okoye hit a post Solkhon’s follow up shot was saved by Conor Barton in the visitor’s goal, Adam Dicks followed up and his shot was also saved. Godmanchester created a good opening just after down the left but the eventual shot went just over The home side were desperately unlucky not to go 2 up after 36 minutes when Okoye won the ball and squared it to Nathan Amaning, he strode forward into the box but saw his shot hit the inside of the post, and when the ball was recycled Dicks had another goal bound effort saved by Barton.

The visiting keeper was back in action straight from the restart when Okoye held up the ball and found Lewis Isom and his fierce cross shot was deflected goal wards by Goddy defender but again Barton was on hand to beat it away. It was all one way traffic now White headed over an Isom corner and then Hall found Isom again with a raking pass he played it inside to Jude Goodacre and when he squared it to Okoye, Barton saved again. Isom was causing the visitors some real problems on the left and another shot saw Barton in action with Okoye not able to convert the rebound. Adam North in the home goal was called into action for the first time on 56 minutes and two minutes later Godmanchester equalised, a Moulton corner was cleared and the ball eventually reached Ben Seymour-Shove who turned inside Goodacre before shooting low into the net. The inspired visiting keeper Barton continued to deny the Magpies and twice he kept efforts out from Isom before the end. A frustrating afternoon for Moulton who created enough chances to win two games let alone one but a return of 4 points in two games this week continues the clubs solid start in step 5.
