After Saturday’s shock defeat at Bugbrooke, Moulton were back on the road again this time with a trip to Easington Sports, with Manager Gary Petts looking for a reaction from his players. He didn’t have long to wait for that as in the 4th minute the Magpies took the lead. Dan White flicked on Adam Norths long clearance and MATTY LONG burst through a gap in the home defence and finished clinically past home keeper Joe White. Dan White was harshly booked in only the 6th minute one of several in-different decisions by the match official in the first half. The visitors were dominating proceedings and created a number of chances, first White flicked on a throw from Andy Hall and Nathan Amaning had a shot blocked, and then Amaning missed the target after cutting in from the left following a quick break. Damian Osoimoejikhian was then wide with a header from a Lewis Isom corner, and just before the break home defender Jake Humphries was lucky not to see a red card after man handling Long on the edge of the box, the referee deeming a yellow the more appropriate colour, but more importantly didn’t award a free -kick or a penalty to the visitors.
HALF TIME EASINGTON SPORTS 0 MOULTON 1
The home side had a good first 5 minutes at the start of the second half and twice North saved once from the edge of the box and then low down to his left from a free kick, however Moulton wrestled back the initiative immediately and twice Isom got down the left, the first time home keeper White saved and the second time Humphreys sliced the cross over his own crossbar. The Magpies continued to control the game, and White scuffed his shot wide after a free kick from Osoimoejikhian was half cleared. Midway through the half Derek Okoye and Ed Odley replaced Amaning and Hall and the chances kept coming and going, firstly Long flicked over from an Isom free kick with only the keeper to beat and then the 2 subs Okoye and Odley combined to set up Adam Dicks on the right-hand side of the box, but he shot wide. Easington were struggling to stem the tide and picked up 2 more yellow cards as Moulton continued to dominate. Okoye had the ball in the net after 81 minutes but was ruled offside and just after Okoye and Justin Mensah combined to put Isom through, but White saved well. Easington had a brief flurry in injury time and North made one smart save but it would have been harsh on the Magpies as they dominated virtually the whole game and fully deserved the 3 points.
