Following the 4-3 midweek defeat at Eynesbury, Moulton were back at Brunting Rd with Lutterworth Town the visitors.

The Swifts took the initiative early on and Jordan Burrows was only just wide after 4 minutes and they continued to dominate the first 15 minutes. The Magpies first real chance came just after when they broke from a Lutterworth corner, Ed Odley and Shad Reza were involved and when the latter crossed Lewis Isom headed back across goal but there was no one there to apply a finishing touch. The almost constant pressure told for the visitors on 21 minutes when a free kick on the right by Dom Brennan was headed home by Nathan Astill, and 2 minutes later Adam North had to be at his best to deny Burrows from making it 2-0. Top scorer Nat Ansu had a couple of half chances first from a flick on by Dan White which was blocked and then a header that went over following a cross by Luke Stevens. With 10 minutes of the half left the Visitors added a second when Moulton lost the ball in their own half Liam Reid broke forward before squaring it across the box for Louis Gill to finish via the underside of the crossbar

I guess there were a few sharp words said at half time as the Magpies looked the better side and Isom was only inches away from getting a telling touch to a cross from Reza. The home side were dealt a blow after 56 mins when Brett Solkhon pulled up with an injury and was replaced by Francis Boateng. Moulton continued to look the better side and Ansu had a great chance after being put away by Odley but his first touch drove him wide and the shot hit the side netting, and then Stevens was desperately unlucky not to reduce the arrears when Reza free kick was cleared to the edge of the box and the big defender saw his volley beaten away down by a post by visiting no1 Luke Jefferey. With 15 minutes left a ball into the box by Adam Dicks saw a mass scramble and the ball appeared to cross the line with more than one Moulton player appealing but the referee and more importantly the linesman didn’t give it and the ball was cleared. The home side did create a couple of more chances before the end when Nathan Amaining shot wide following a keeper fumble and then Adam Dicks blazed over in injury time.

A classic game of 2 halves sadly Moulton didn’t turn up for the first 45 and were always playing catch up.
