Moulton were on the road again when they visited March Town for the first ever time.
The Magpies were hampered by injuries to central defenders Brett Solkhon and Luke Stevens and with Francis Boateng unavailable Jordan Jarrold and Josh Melling were pressed into service , Melling having hung up his boots at the end of last season.

The Magpies started on top on a chilly afternoon in the Fens and Matty Long had the first chance but saw his shot blocked and soon after he had another chance but the home keeper Gill saved comfortably.

The Hares had their first real chance after 14 minutes but Adam North saved and at the other end Damian Osiomoejikhian swung in a cross that Gill fumbled but Long couldn’t get the ball out of his feet and the chance was lost. The game was even with both sides having half chances but nothing clear cut until the 42nd minute when a Magpies corner was won by Melling and when the ball was returned into the box by Adam Dicks , Osiomoejikhian was just wide with a header, and the same player brought out another save from Gill as the half ended.

The home side started the second half strongly and had most of the possession and a couple of decent chances before eventually taking the lead on 65 minutes, Henson got away on the left and he crossed to the unmarked Tsagurin who finished comfortably. Within 3 minutes the home side were 2 up , Moulton gave away a free kick 30 yards out and Emmingtons shot flew above North and into the net.

To Moulton’s credit they kept plugging away and reduced the arrears 11 minutes later.
Osiomoejikhian was involved again finding Dan White unmarked out on the right , he slid the ball down to Ed Odley and his first time cross was converted by MELLING at the near post. The Magpies then enjoyed their best spell of the game Osiomoejikhian crossed from the left but sub Aaron Carmichael saw his shot on the turn blocked close in and then Osiomoejikhian whipped another cross in but it eluded everyone in the box and missed the far post by inches.
