Following Saturday’s exit in the Isuzu FA Vase Moulton FC were back at Brunting Rd when Leicester Nirvana were the visitors, with the Magpies keen to avenge a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture in mid – August. The home side started the brightest and took the lead after only 5 minutes when some neat football released Damian Osoimoejiokhian down the left and when his cross came in Nirvana keeper Luke McAdam in attempting to clear punched the ball straight up in the air and it fell nicely to DEREK OKOYE who headed in from close range and within 4 minutes it was 2-0. Moulton broke from a Nirvana corner and some great one touch football involving Andy Hall and Lewis Isom again released Osoimoejikhian and his first time cross was converted brilliantly on the run by OKOYE for his second of the game, and certainly a candidate for goal of the season. The home side were in complete control and when Ed Odley combined with Hall, keeper McAdam was at full stretch to keep out his effort. The visitors were struggling to create any worthwhile chances and Moulton’s high intensity off the ball was forcing them to go long regularly with little reward. With 5 minutes of the half left the Magpies struck again, Hall and Isom were involved and when Odley tip toed inside the box he was brought down from behind and OKOYE clinically dispatched the spot kick to secure a first half hat-trick. Just as the half ended it could have been 4-0, when an Isom corner found its way out to Luke Stevens but his fierce shot was cleared off the line by Lynas King.
HALF TIME MOULTON 3 LEICESTER NIRVANA O
Moulton were dealt a blow with only 8 minutes of the second half gone when Stevens pulled up with a hamstring injury and was replaced by Jordan Jarrold but as a contest the game was over within a minute. Okoye was fouled out on the right and from Isom’s free kick DAN WHITE ghosted in at the near post to guide the ball past McAdam for his second goal in 2 games. The visitors did have a free kick go just over after 59 minutes but they created little else and the Magpies should really have had more goals , firstly Odley and sub Toby Sainsbury combined to send Adam Dicks through on goal but McAdam beat away his shot and then Osoimoejikhian crossed from the left but another sub Aaron Carmichael couldn’t convert. Moulton continued to dominate and Odley won a great tackle in mid-field and then sent Dicks clear again but again McAdam saved this time with his legs. As the game entered injury time Carmichael had another chance but couldn’t connect properly after a cross from Jude Goodacre.
Another terrific team performance probably the best of the season giving the visitors no time on the ball and creating chances at will for themselves.
