Won 5-1
(H/T 1-0)
Moulton visited Hinckley FC for the first time with Manager Gary Petts making 2 changes from last weeks win over Coventry Utd with Shad Reza replacing Nathan Amaning and Andy Hall in for the suspended Ed Odley. The first chance of the game fell to the Magpies when Matty Long won the ball and found Lewis Isom out on the left, he played in Damian Osoimoejikhian on the overlap, and his shot stung the fingers of home keeper Divin Emmanuel with Long inches away from following up. The home side replied and Jared Bradshaw scuffed a shot wide but after 17 mins the visitors took the lead, Luke Stevens recycled the ball back into the box, and a defender knocked it past his on-rushing goalkeeper and with Long challenging home defender Luke Jones could only help it into his own net. Moulton took control after this and should have increased their lead after 27 minutes Long got a flick on which put Isom in the clear but he could only get a toe end to the ball and Emmanuel saved low down, and not long after Adam Dicks found himself free on the corner of the penalty area and his fierce shot was tipped past the post by the increasingly busy home keeper. At the other end the home side worked an opening for Ashton DeMulder be he missed the target.
HALF TIME HINCKLEY 0 MOULTON 1
The Magpies domination continued after the break forcing a number of corners and Reza played a great 1-2 with Hall before shooting just wide, and soon after Hall played a delightful pass into Long, but the bouncing ball just wouldn’t come down for him, and his eventual shot was smothered by Emmanuel. The almost constant pressure finally paid off after 58 minutes Reza released OSOIMOEJIKHIAN, he strode into the box and his fierce shot on the run flew past Emmanuel into the net. New signing Terry Falcini replaced Reza and within a couple of minutes the visitors went further in front, Hall found Adam Dicks who crossed from the right and LONG rose to power a header into the net from 10 yards. The home side were struggling to stem the tide, and the Magpies added a 4th goal with 64 minutes on the clock FALCINI went on a run down the left touchline and when his eventual cross was partially cleared back to him, he returned it with interest with great strike into the far corner. Two of the blossoming U18 squad Jude Goodacre and Louis Kelly replaced Hall and Isom and from a wicked dipping free kick from Goodacre, Long should have scored but directed his header wide of the target, but a 5th goal wasn’t long on coming , Osoimoejikhian and Derek Okoye were involved with Goodacre who didn’t give up the ball when it looked to be going out and from his cross debutant KELLY nipped in to guide the ball home from close in. Hinckley with a massive piece of luck grabbed a consolation goal right at the death when a speculative cross from the right clipped the heal of Stevens and wrong-footed Adam North in the visitor’s goal.
A huge performance by the Magpies cemented their place in the top 5 of the league.
