Match Report v Sileby Rangers

Lge (H)
Drew 1-1
(H/T 0-1)
Local Rivals Sileby Rangers were the visitors to Brunting Rd on Good Friday evening hoping to avenge the 5-1 home defeat in August last year. The Magpies were missing Nathan Burrows through injury so there was a surprise recall for Nat Ansu and with Evan Dye and Mo Khan also joining up with the squad. The visitors had the first effort on goal with Adam North saving low down and from the resultant corner Adam Dicks headed a goal bound effort off the line. At the other end Terry Falcini went on a run down the left and his cross somehow eluded Matty Long and the chance was lost, and soon after Long did have an attempt on goal but shot well over the bar. A good 4 man move involving Andy Hall, Dye, Dicks and Dan White set up Ansu who turned on the edge of the box, but his left foot effort flew just wide and then a 1-2 between Long and Dicks set up Ansu again but he delayed his shot and it was blocked for a corner. Against the run of play the Visitors took the lead in the last minutes of the half when some poor decisions at a Sileby throw in their own half resulted in Cairo Taylor being in a footrace down the right with Dye which the striker won and shot into the roof of the net past North.

HALF TIME MOULTON 0 SILEBY RANGERS 1

The Magpies had the first chance of the second half when Lewis Isom shot wide from 20 yards and then, following a throw from Hall, Ansu turned and shot but Ash Bodycote in the visitors goal pulled off a decent save to keep out the effort, with the resulting corner from Isom flashing across the 6 yard box with no one in Black and White able to apply a finish. Moulton did eventually find an equaliser on 68 minutes, Isom’s deft flick released substitute Khan down the left who put in a great cross which ANSU challenged for initially, Tyson Aluko then had a shot blocked but as the ball ran loose the Magpies No 9 got a toe end to it and it found the net . Dan White then crashed a shot against a post, but the whistle had already gone for an infringement and a minute later Sileby should have re- taken the lead when Hilton Arthur robbed Dicks 40 yards out, but his eventual shot was well wide of the target. Right at the death the home side could have won it also, Hall hooked the ball towards goal Khan headed on to Amaning but he snatched at his shot, and it went wide. A better display than of late for the Magpies but 1 lapse of concentration and lack of quality in the final 3rd was the difference between 1 point and 3.
