Match Report v Lutterworth Town

Lge (A)
Lost 0-2
(H/T 0-1)
The second away trip in 5 days saw the Magpies over in Leicestershire to take on Lutterworth and were missing several players but saw Ollie Parsons get a start in midfield and Ellis Andrews join up with the squad for the first time.

Moulton started brightly and Lachi Codrington put Nat Ansu in down the channel, but he shot wildly over and then Codrington got in a header from an Adam Dicks cross, but home keeper Josh Wormleighton saved under his bar. Lutterworth had a succession of free kicks, but they came to nothing but took the lead after 16 minutes, the visitors had several chances to clear the ball, but when it was delivered to the far post Tendai Daire rose unchallenged to head his side in front.

The home side should have increased the lead after 32 minutes, but Dom Brennan blazed over from 12 yards with just Adam North to beat. Moulton did create a couple of chances for Lewis Isom but both were narrowly wide, and another chance fell to Codrington just before half time but he headed over a Dicks cross.

HALF TIME LUTTERWORTH TOWN 1 MOULTON 0

Again, Moulton started brightly and Codrington who was the only real threat going forward picked up the ball in midfield and advanced before forcing Wormleighton to save down by his right-hand post and a minute later Moulton were denied what looked like an equalising goal. The home keeper collided with his own defender and Ansu pounced on the loose ball and netted, only to see the referee rule it out (not sure why) as after the injured keeper recovered the official gave a drop ball, clearly not a foul then? After 8 minutes of the second half the home side increased their lead and again It was Daire who did the damage out stripping Dante Grey before hitting a ferocious shot across North into the far corner off the crossbar.

Codrington again fired wide and then Dicks looked to have been caught late after putting in a cross, but the official waved away the claims for a penalty. North made a decent save again from Daire and with 67 minutes gone the Magpies made 3 changes and went to a back 3 to try and get back into the game. Codrington was not far wide with a dipping free kick and right near the end Wormleighton flapped at a cross but then recovered to make a great save when Andrews followed up from the edge of the box. Save for Codrington the Magpies looked toothless up front and were out fought and bullied by the home side for large parts of the game who on work rate alone deserved the 3 points.
