After the frustrations of last weeks draw at Daventry Town, Moulton picked up their first league win of the season with a dominant display at Coton Green.

The Magpies were without a few players for this one, with Terry Falcini and Justin Mensah both injured, Lewis Isom and Francis Boateng un-available and Renato Prifti pulling out on Friday evening due to illness.

The hosts were nearly gifted a goal in the opening minute when a short back pass was intercepted by Corey Powell but Adam North blocked his shot.

Moulton got a foot hold in the game and had the ball in the net after 6 minutes, but Nat Ansu was adjudged offside in the build-up. However, the parity was short lived as 3 minutes later the visitors took the lead, LACHI CODRINGTON cut in from the left and found an advanced Luke Stevens who moved the ball on to Dan White and his slide rule pass found the young winger in space by the penalty spot and he finished clinically just inside the post.

Moulton were playing all the football with Coton Green happy to hoof the ball forward at every opportunity, but they were offered a lifeline with 25 minutes on the clock. Dante Grey conceded a free kick 30 yards out and from the rehearsed move Owen Watkins got in down the side and beat North on the angle to equalise.

The hosts were having a bright spell and North was forced to tip over from Brad Mansell, but towards the end of the half the Magpies took control again, Ansu broke clear but delayed his shot and then twice in a matter of minutes Connor Bailey skinned the full back and on the second occasion a pull back found Tyson Aluko but his shot flew narrowly over.

The visitors continued to dominate after the break and Ansu had a chance early on, Grey had a header cleared off the line, and then Lewis Fisher put Bailey in down the right, but his shot was blocked by home keeper Brandon Bache.

The Magpies were well on top now and Codrington was set up by Bailey, and his shot appeared to strike the hand of a Coton defender, but the referee waved away penalty claims. Ansu was working both central defenders Recci and Rowe hard so much so that both were shown yellow cards and with 71 minutes on the clock Moulton took a deserved lead. A poor ball into the corner of the home defence was chased down by Aluko, Bache made a real hash of the clearance hacking it straight to FISHER who took one touch before lobbing the backtracking keeper from 35 yards. Ansu was causing real problems and from another won free kick Damian Osoimoeijokhian’s shot smashed into the wall. Home frustrations boiled over and goalscorer Watkins saw out the rest of the game on the bench, sin binned for dissent, and the Magpies took advantage and wrapped the game up after 86 minutes.

Osoimoejiokhian played a pass down the left channel and following a poor clearance by a home defender CODRINGTON picked up the ball and advanced before curling a shot around a defender and just inside the far post. North made a routine save as the game entered injury time, but the visitors saw the game out, which for the most part they dominated from start to finish.
