Moulton continued their decent run of form with a comfortable 2-0 win over Highgate Utd at Brunting Rd on Saturday last.
The visitors showed 8 changes from the side that lost 12-1 in its last outing against Rugby Town and made life difficult for the Magpies early on with some organised defensive work so much so that the first Moulton chance didn’t arrive until the 20th minute when Lewis Isom got away on the left and his cross was intercepted by a Utd defender just as Lachi Codrington was poised to convert, and minutes later Sean Wilson the visiting keeper made a hash of a clearance straight to Connor Bailey but his effort was wide from 18 yards.
Highgate were in sixes and sevens at the back and when a Codrington shot was blocked, Tyson Aluko followed up but blazed over, and then Bailey got another shot in, but it was saved by Wilson.
The Magpies continued to dominate and Isom set up Codrington but his header was again saved by Wilson and then the same player headed over after a 1-2 between Dante Grey and Luke Stevens set him up, and the half ended with 2 yellow cards for Codrington and Aluko as a little bit of frustration set in.
HALF TIME MOULTON 0 HIGHGATE UTD 0
Adam Dicks replaced Ellis Andrews at half time and a decent move involving the substitute and Isom ended with Codrington shooting wide from inside the box, and another change after 54 minutes proved to be the spark required. Bailey was replaced by TERRY FALCINI and within a couple of minutes the winger was tripped inside the box by Jon Myrie, and he got to his feet to convert the spot kick to give Moulton a deserved lead.
The home side continued to dominate, and Dicks headed over after being set up by Aluko and later in the game Isom was narrowly over with 2 free kicks.
Little was seen of the visitors as an attacking force and Adam North in the home goal was a virtual spectator for most of the game, whilst at the other end Codrington set up Falcini but Wilson saved again but with the game entering injury time the Magpies made the game safe, Grey intercepted a Highgate clearance inside the centre circle and his pass put CODRINGTON in the clear, and with Wilson advancing the striker chipped him and rolled the ball into the empty net.
