Moulton faced Peterborough based YDP, heavily depleted and as a result fell to a heavy 6–1 defeat against a YDP side in the Lower Junior Cup, despite a spirited second-half showing and a goal from Luke Bell.

YDP dominated the early stages and quickly took control of the game. The opening goal came after a mix-up at the back, allowing YDP an easy tap-in. The visitors doubled their lead soon after when a deep cross drifted over everyone and found the back of the net. Their third arrived from a corner, a header that left the Moulton keeper with no chance.

Despite the scoreline, Moulton had moments of promise. Toby and Luke both forced good saves from the YDP goalkeeper, but the home side went into the break trailing 3–0.

The second half began with more energy from Moulton. They enjoyed better possession and territory, but YDP extended their lead to 4–0 after slick play down the wing and a pull-back for their striker to complete his hat-trick.

Moulton found some reward when Kyle was brought down by the YDP keeper, winning a penalty. Luke Bell saw his initial effort saved but reacted quickest to bury the rebound and make it 4–1.

However, YDP restored full control soon after. A loose ball in the box wasn’t cleared and was turned home for their fifth, before a late penalty completed the scoring at 6–1.

It was a tough afternoon for Moulton, who showed glimpses of their ability but were ultimately undone by clinical finishing and defensive lapses. YDP progress to the next round, while Moulton will look to regroup and bounce back in their next fixture.
