Moulton Reserves went into this game on the back of 3 away defeats, conceding 8 goals without reply. Their 5-1 win at home on the first day of the season seemed a distant memory. It was therefore important to build their confidence with a home win v ON Chenecks Reserves.
The first talking point came in the 16th minute when Davide Soro beat the offside trap and advanced on goal. As the goal keeper made his way towards the advancing striker, a defender caught up with Davide as he entered the penalty area and clearly pushed him in the back. Although the referee did not appear to have seen the push, the linesman had a clear view of the whole event. There was no reason for Davide to have fallen over un-aided. Although the referee did have a chat with the linesman, nothing was given.
With both teams tending to squander chances at both ends, it was left to ON Chenecks to open the scoring in the 36th minute, Lee Felgate breaking the deadlock.
Captain Luke Smart was substituted at half-time, with Sean Fiawonoo making his Magpies debut. With 68 minutes on the clock a ball from the right found Davide in the 6yd box to tap in. Both sides had further chances but the game petered out with both sides gaining a point.
