(H/T 2-1)
Moulton Development started their United Counties Reserve Division 2026/27 league campaign when they entertained Rugby Borough Reserves at Brunting Road.
Moulton went 1-0 down on 18 mins when they conceded a clear penalty, the Rugby player dispatching the spot kick. This lead was short lived when Moulton equalised 4 mins later, Jaxon Bedford advancing into the penalty area and crossing across goal from the corner of the goal area to Harry Cowley at the back post to slot home. With half time looming Moulton went 2-1 up on 38 mins, Jamie Fuller found him self in space in the goal area following a through ball and dispatched the ball from a foot out.

Within 6 mins of the restart Rugby drew level and we had to wait until the 78th min for further scoring, but then two in 2 mins. The first came from Sheku Koroma who advanced towards goal and unleashed a shot past the keeper from just inside the penalty area, central. The next goal was a bizarre own goal by Rugby, the defender advancing back to his goal out on the right and tried to pass back to his keeper, who was advancing to the edge of the penalty area. The ball however beat the keeper and advanced almost in slow motion into the far corner.
A tense 10 mins saw Rugby get a goal back on 90 mins but although they put further pressure on the Moulton defence, they were unable to capitalise. A well deserved first win for the new Development Team.
