Today everyone know that this was going to be a difficult task to keep last year’s champions at bay. For 20 minutes the tactics of defensive unity worked quite well, restricting Falcons to corners and a good save from Davis to keep the score level. Then on the 21st minute Moulton win a free-kick, unfortunately Falcons counter-attack and take the lead (1 – 0). In the next 15 minutes Falcons start to impose their quality, and dispatch two more goals from strong play down the right-hand side to take a 3 – 0 score-line into the half-time break.
Throughout the game Davis was called into action, and he was called into action again, producing two good saves in the first three minutes of the second-half. During the next twenty minutes of the match Moulton try their best to keep the score-line to a minimum, but Falcons add two more goals to complete a 5 – 0 result.
After two really tough fixtures, things get only slightly easier, against Delapre Dragons in our first Moulton home league fixture next week.
This will be a far better indicator of how Moulton will fair in the A League. So lad’s keep your head’s up, and we look forward to a positive reaction next week.
