About the team

THEY THOUGHT IT WAS ALL OVER - ITS NOT NOW!

LOVE FOOTBALL?
But had to give up through injury, illness, health, weight, fitness, family or work commitments? Then why not make a comeback! It's an ideal way to improve your mental, as well as your physical, well-being with some healthy exercise.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
It still takes some effort to walk for a whole hour. Many of us couldn't manage that but, after a while, some of us now play 3 or 4 times a week! and we've lost a few stone. All games have regular breaks and you can sit out if you wish. Bring water. Naturally, please check with your GP first.

WHO IS IT AIMED AT?
This sport is aimed at the over 50s men if you fulfil our criteria: "if you're still fit enough for ordinary soccer or 5-a-side, then well done, but sorry - these sessions probably aren't for you". As most of our players cannot play football anywhere else - so we aim to provide them with a safe and enjoyable experience. Many are returning after 10 years, and in some cases, 40 years away from the game! We have a strict ethos of "Football for all" and the "FA Respect". The main rules are No running and MINIMAL Contact - this makes the games safer and allows those of varying abilities to play together. We hold 3 sessions per week where we play matches. We occasionally play Friendlies against other local teams e.g. Wellingborough and Rothwell. We currently enter teams at over 50's, 60's, 65's and 70's into various competitions throughout the year for those wanting a little more competition.

WHEN CAN I PLAY?
Evenings and Daytimes: Each session attracts 35-50 players so we split into groups based on fitness and play matches or hold round-robins of between 6 and 10-a-side! We have over 115 regular players aged from 49-77, with half the club aged 65 or over, and 12 in their 70s. We are one of the 10 largest groups in the country.

EVENINGS:
On Mondays we play 7.15-8.15pm - when we get over 50 players turn up - we hold two simultaneous sessions, roughly based on age of over 50s which is a little quicker and over 60s which is more relaxed (but it'll be largely based on fitness and ability, so the sides are fair).

WHERE DO YOU MEET?
Please meet at car-park / clubhouse at 6.40PM (20 mins before KO 7-8pm) to help carry/sort kit, set-up pitch, general admin, pay subs, warm-up, so we have prompt KO at 7.15pm .

DAYTIMES:
On Tuesday and Fridays mornings we meet 9.40am to play 10-11am. As we get 35-50 players we still split into groups based on fitness.

WHERE DO YOU MEET?
As above please meet outside the clubhouse to pay subs and access the equipment for the games.

WHERE ARE YOU?:
Formed in 2016, from September 2018 we have now become part of Moulton F.C. and known as the Moulton Masters (and Grandmasters) (of course!) . This brands us separately from the other 20 teams (Moulton Magpies, Minis, Vets, Ladies and seniors) and ALL the weekly sessions will be played here, all-year-round, on the new £1m all-weather facility at Brunting Road (off Northampton Lane South) NN3 7QF.
This has ample parking and a cafe / bar for socialising afterwards. There are changing rooms and toilets too. Yes, in winter we play under floodlights and play throughout the year!

FOOTWEAR:
To play (or even walk) on the actual 3g pitch you must wear special footwear - These are known as FG or "Firm Ground" Football Boots - these are the former plastic moulded soles we played in when younger (with no metal or blades). You can wear AG (Artificial pitch surface boots too). However, you are not permitted to wear Astroturf (TF) boots as they flatten the grass or Soft Ground (SG boots)! SEE PHOTOS on this website for clarity.

CAN I JUST COME AND WATCH FIRST?
Yes, spectators are encouraged (behind the barriers at this 3-sided stadia ground) and at the daytime sessions you maybe able to join in, as we have a few pairs of spare boots! Just wear normal sports clothing and bring a black and a white top. We will provide proper bibs. Bring water.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?
Please Contact Phil Andrews 07842-537854 or masters@moultonfc.com in advance.
We also have a Facebook page which has team photos so you may recognise some of your ex-classmates, workmates or team mates from the town, who have re-discovered their love of playing football and the camaraderie that goes with it! We have a social side with Golf, FootGolf, Live Music, Quizzes etc.

We have players from all walks of life, all abilities and it doesn't matter what standard you played to, they'll be a session for you.

It's great fun!
